A selection of our designs are suitable for narrow staircase structures. Typically, there’s a minimum width requirement for stairlift installations. The minimum width for a stairlift varies depending on your staircase shape – straight or curved. For functionality, a minimum width across your staircase is often required:

• Straight staircase – 600mm (23 inches)
• Curved staircase – 660mm (26 inches)

 

Key Measurements

Four important measurements must be taken to determine if you can safely have a stairlift installed on your narrow staircase:

1. Staircase length
2. Staircase width
3. Bottom clearing measurements
4. The dimensions of the stairlift user (including measurements of your back to knee, back to toe, and seat to head)
